Don Jazzy – I don’t regret sacrificing my marriage for music

Mavin CEO, Don Jazzy shocked fans when he revealed that he got married for the first time 18 years ago.

Don Jazzy disclosed this on Saturday on his Instagram page.

He revealed that he got married at the age of 20 and got divorced two years later due to his love for music.

“For so long everyone keeps asking me when am I getting married?” the popular music producer wrote.

Talking about his failed marriage for the first time, he wrote: ‘Well the truth is almost 18 years ago I was 20 and I got married to my best friend Michelle @yarnstaswitch and it was beautiful. I loved love and I loved marriage. Michelle is soooo beautiful inside and outside with such a soft heart. But then me being so young and full of dreams I went and fucked it up cos I was giving all my time to my Music. Music became a priority instead of my family.’

He disclosed that he got divorced when he was 22-year-old and since then had stayed away from love and marriage because he was hurt.

“We got divorced when I was 22 and it hurt. I am still very much in love with my music and I wouldn’t want to marry another and fuck it up again. So I’m taking my time. Why am I just saying this now?? I really like to keep my relationships private actually. Past or present.”

Reacting to the never before heard revelation, a fan asked Don Jazzy if the Nigerian Music Industry deserved such a sacrifice, to which he replied “Ahh it does o. I will like to think that I have been a blessing to millions of people directly cos my music is successful. Let’s just be thanking GOD sha.”

Don Jazzy is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian Music Industry as we know it today. The defunct Mo’Hits group which he was a part of alongside D’banj and Wande Coal can easily be described as the first successful Afrobeats group.
