Pocket by PiggyVest Review: Social commerce site in Nigeria

Pocket by Piggyvest app is a social commerce app that helps connect sellers and buyers in a social media like ecosystem. Think of your regular social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, but instead of personal posts and funny cat videos from your friends, what you will see on your feed is products and services that matches your needs.

Here you can discover local products from sellers in your vicinity and beyond. The app also comes with other features such as bill payments, peer-to-peer cash transfer among Pocket app users, social crowdfunding in which up to 100 people can participate to meet a savings target, escrow service for both buyers and sellers etc.

The pocket app was formerly known as Abeg app which was acquired by the online savings platform, Piggyvest. Following its acquisition, it was rebranded to “Pocket by PiggyVest.”

 Is Pocket by PiggyVest legit?

Yes, Pocket app is a legit social commerce platform, it received its Approval In Principle (AIP) from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to operate as a Mobile Money Operator (MOMO) in Nigeria after it was acquired by Piggyvest Limited.

What other users are saying about the Pocket app

These reviews are from users on the Google play store for android devices, but the experience should be similar on other devices.

HOPE YUSUF wrote, “App seem to be great, based on the functionality I’ve seen, but right now I can’t use the app, I’m kept in this loop, I login with my pin code or biometric, I get to the home page, and after a short buffer, I’m taken back to login page. I’ve cleared cache for the app, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, still same problem. This is my first time using the app.”

E-square Solution wrote, “the experience was awesome. I was quite angry at piggyvest for not allowing me to transfer from their app but when directed to this pocket app which I first find disturbing but had to try it out, the transaction was smooth like ice cream. tanks lot guys,”

Obinna Merife wrote, “This is very lousy app. How can one’s account be restricted and there’s no where in the app where one can have it be unrestricted except the “customer service” is contacted? Customer service that only works on work days? What sort of app is this? Kindly unrestrict my account please. So I can close it. I’m totally frustrated! What is this self?”

damilola susan wrote, “An alternative should be provide in place of BVN Verification, maybe NIN number or ID Card upload. I don’t have the number I used to register my BVN and the camera feature for Verification isn’t working. That was why I uninstalled the App the first time. And now and back cos of the business feature but its still the same problem.”
