Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first person in the world to reach 250 million followers on Instagram, becoming the platform’s most-followed account apart from Instagram’s own account.
If Ronaldo’s Instagram followers were a nation, they would be the 5th most populous nation in the world after China, India, United States, and Indonesia. They would form a more populous nation than Pakistan, Brazil, Nigeria, and Russia.
Other popular celebrities on Instagram Include American singer Ariana Grande with 214 million followers, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with 209 million followers.
Fellow soccer star, Lionel Messi has the 8th most popular account on Instagram with 174 million followers.
Instagram is a photo-sharing social networking service that enables users to take pictures and edit them with filters. The platform allows users to post and share their images online and directly with their friends and followers on the social network. The cross-platform app surpassed 1 billion monthly active users in mid-2018. Currently, there are approximately 112 million Instagram users in the United States alone, and experts project this figure to surpass 120 million users in 2023.
