Man set to marry two women on the same day releases wedding invite
A man in Nigeria’s Delta state has concluded plans to marry two women on the same day in a practice that is increasingly becoming common across Nigeria.
According to their wedding invitation, the man identified as Samson Uthuko Uloho will be getting married to his brides Evelyn and Faith in Isoko South Local government area on Sunday, April 11.
Polygyny – the practice of a man getting married to more than one woman is legal in Nigeria. Almost half the country’s population are Muslims, a religion that permits men to have up to four wives.
The practice of marrying two women on the same day is rare in Nigeria until 2017 when a man, simply identified as Emamuzo, married two brides, Janet and Osioni, in a ceremony that attracted a lot of eyeballs after the wedding banner went viral online.
A few weeks ago Babangida Sadiq Adamu, a political youth leader, went viral on social media after tying knots with two different women on the same day. He married the 3hrs30mins apart.
The first wedding Fatiha held at Kado Bmiko Juma’at Mosque, beside Kado Bmiko Primary School, 1st Avenue Gwarinpa at 10:00 am, while the second took place at Garki Village Central Mosque, Garki II Abuja at 1:30 pm.
