The Tate brothers, Andrew and his brother Tristan, often flaunt their riches on social media. Pictures taken at exotic locations worldwide, with cars, private jets and pretty women. The would-be scammer even went as far as to design a tribute poster when Andrew’s father died and would often repost everything he shared online.

Andrew bought the scammer’s loyalty with respect, he engaged him in a conversation even thou he knew exactly who he was and what he wanted. A little respect, even to those who don’t deserve it, can buy you truly loyal followers who can in turn help push your business.

2. Cutoff toxic family and friends

One of the major things that hold most people back is the toxic family and friends around them. The Tate brothers often talk about the strained relationship they have with their sister – she’s an American-based lawyer who believes Andrew and Tristan are too misogynistic and doesn’t approve of their business ventures in gambling and camgirls.

Family is not an unbreakable chain, and an important lesson to run a successful business that makes money is to cut off anyone that does not approve of your hustle. Tate would often describe his sister as low IQ because she thinks Trump is a racist. To be fair, Andrew thinks every woman has a low IQ.

3. Female friendship has no financial value to a man

If you are a man that wants to make money and build wealth, avoid plutonic friendships with females because they don’t offer you anything but disadvantages according to Andrew Tate. His logic for this is simple, imagine you are walking down the street with your female friend and someone snatched her purse, chivalry dictates that you as a man have to chase down the thief, and risk your life to get her purse back. Andrew believes this is neither fair nor reasonable since you’re not getting anything commensurate in return. You are not getting sex in return, and to think of it, your female friend will be the last person you will think of if you need help getting out of a situation like escaping a war zone.

Andrew believes that relationships and friendships should be two-way streets where everyone benefits. It is hard to argue that most females offer anything to males apart from sex, and a relationship where sex is not even a possibility seems unfair to the male.

4. Be disciplined

Andrew Tate is not a Muslim, but he often speaks of his respect for Islam and Muslims. The main reason is he realizes that Muslims are the only religious sect that has remained disciplined and still stand for something, “they don’t tolerate anything” as he often puts it.

In business you also have to stand for something, you don’t have to tolerate anything just for the immediate financial gains. Be disciplined.

5. Diversify

Early years

Jason Chukwuma Njoku was born on December 11th, 1980 in Deptford, South-East London to to parents of Nigerian decent. After his early education in the United Kingdom, he moved back to Nigeria at the age of 12, where he schooled for about three years. At the age of 15, he returned to the United Kingdom for his college education at the University of Manchester. He read Chemistry and graduated in 2005.

Falling and getting back up

The next expected step might have been for Njoku to pursue a career in Chemistry, but he had other thoughts—he wanted to start and own a business of his own. He started a student magazine called Brash, soon after he left the university. Then he ran a blog. And ran a T-shirt business, and then a web-design company. He would later say in a tweet that no less than 10 businesses crumbled in his hands during this time.

In a TEDx talk, he recounted, “Straight out of the university, I focused on entrepreneurship or whatever I thought it was. And I was a certified failure. So, from 2005 to 2010, I was a decrepit failure.”

When nothing seemed to be working out as planned, Njoku returned to the United Kingdom, ready to give up on his entrepreneurial dreams. This feeling only lasted until he saw another problem that needed to be solved.

His mother wanted to watch Nollywood movies there in the United Kingdom but could not get any online streaming platform to access quality Nollywood films. Njoku then wondered why no one had ever thought of producing a Hulu or a Netflix for Africa, since there appeared to be people who had same wants.

“Everyone thought I was mad. I had failed enough and if you fail that much, it gets to a point where it literally doesn’t matter anymore,” Njoku said.

With zero funds of his own, he returned to Nigeria after convincing his friend Bastian Gotter to invest his life savings in the idea. They struck a deal with YouTube Germany to be their official Channel partner in 2010, and launched NollywoodLove, a YouTube channel. The channel became profitable within two months of launch.

Working from his home residence in Festac, Lagos, Njoku started purchasing online licenses of Nollywood movies, using the capital his friend had invested. Iroko Partners was born from NollywoodLove. Eventually, the team secured an initial investment fund amounting to $3 million from Tiger Global company in 2010, and another $22 million from international VCs including Investment AB Kinnevik and RISE Capital.

By 2015, Njoku decided it was time to shift focus to having TV series run on an Android mobile app rather than other streaming means. This has proven to be the most profitable decision for the company, and iROKOtv has now grown to the capacity of a catalogue of over 5000 movies with offices in Lagos, New York and London.

Despite taking a hit on its revenue during the COVID-19 lockdown, IrokoTV bounced back shortly after. There are hints that IrokoTV might be planning for an IPO in 2022 or sometime soon.

Awards and recognition

Courtesy of what he was doing with Iroko TV, Jason Njoku was named CNBC All Africa Business Awards Young Leader of the Year for West Africa on the 29th August 2013. This came one short year after Forbes Africa cited him as one of the “Ten Young African Millionaires to Watch” in July 2012.

He was also listed among the Fast Company’s Top 1000 Most Creative People in Business in January 2014, and he won the Future Awards Africa as Entrepreneur of the Year. Locally, Njoku has a City People Movie Special Recognition Award to his name and an Outstanding Industry Achievement Award at the West Africa Mobile Awards.

Other business interests

In 2013, Jason Njoku and his friend Bastian Gotter launched a $2 million dollar investment vehicle. In August of the same year, they started investing. They invested in a Lagos based internet start-up called Spark, some 11 companies including a drinks distribution company called drinks.ng, a real-estate and property online letting agency called ToLet.com.ng, and a hotel room booking site, hotels.ng, which has gone on to raise $1.2 million in VC investment from EchoVC Pan-Africa Fund and Omidyar Network.

Jason is also the founder of Rok studios, a leading African film and television studio and production house based in Lagos. This business was incubated by IROKO partners, and has developed, produced and financed film and TV series, as well as an Animation studio called ROK Animation studios. ROK TV is on DStv and GOtv platforms, and reaches no less than 15 million subscribers in Africa, and another 12.5 million viewers on SKY in the UK.

Njoku serves as Executive Chairman of BlackBet, a business which was launched in Nigeria in 2017. There are talks that he might be the owner of the business, but there is nothing to prove that to be true. Considering that he also sits as Executive Chairman of Betty Bingo, one has to wonder though.

There is no openly verified figure of what Jason Njoku’s net worth might be, although he once said that his goal was to have a net worth of $100 million before his 40th birthday.

Folorunso Alakija is one of the most powerful women in the Nigerian Oil and gas industry, and currently the wealthiest woman on the African continent according to Forbes.

The Nigerian billionaire businesswoman was until 2020, one of the only two billionaires in Africa alongside Angola’s Isabella Dos Santos who has since been dropped from the billionaire’s list.

As at 2020 Apostle Folorunso Alakija networth stood at 1bn dollars according to Forbes Magazine. And in 2015, the magazine ranked her as the 87th most powerful woman in the world.

Apostle Folorunso Alakija was born on July 13, 1951.

She graduated from Pitman Central College, London, where she studied Secretarial Studies in the 1970s.

Alakija started her career as an Executive Secretary in Sijuade Enterprises, Lagos in 1974.

She later left Sijuade Enterprises to work for the National Bank of Chicago which is now known as First City Monument Bank (FCMB). After some years, she went into fashion when she established her tailoring outfit called Supreme Stitches. She later changed the name of her company to Rose of Sharon Fashion in a move to rebrand the business.

Her contribution to the fashion industry earned her the position of National President of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN) and put her in contact with a lot of influential people in the Nigerian society. She later started Famfa Limited in 1991, an oil trading business which has since became one of the largest crude oil exporting companies in Nigeria.

In 1933, the company apply for and was granted the license to carry out oil exploration activities in the Agbami Field. That oil field was formerly known as OPL 216 now OML 127.

The license which gives the company rights to explore the oil field will be due for renewal in 2024. In 1996, Alakija transferred 40 percent of her shares from her 100 percent to Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, of subsidiary of Texaco, the French owned oil giants.

She appointed the company to provide expert advisory services to Famfa Limited for handling exploration activities on the Agbami Oil field.

That same year she bagged a Master of Business Administration from CWC School for Energy, London.

Alakija is the founder of Rose of Sharon Foundation, a non-governmental organization which was established to empower widows, orphans, and other underprivileged people.

The 46-year old business man from Anambra state in eastern Nigeria recently buried his mother in a lavish ceremony that has left many wondering how he makes his money.
