Osimhen dismisses report saying Nigerian doctors did more damage to his shoulder while trying to treat him

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has dismissed reports that Nigerian doctors aggravated his shoulder injury while trying to help him ease off pains.

The Nigerian striker suffered a shoulder dislocation during Super Eagles’ disappointing AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone last month in Benin which ended in a 4-4 draw.

The 21-year-old was removed in the 78th minute with Paul Onuachu taking his place for the remainder of the game having already registered his name on the scores sheet earlier in the first half.

According to Football Italia, the medical team of the Nigerian national squad made attempts to put it back into place on the field after which he returned to Italy to see a specialist consultation.

On Saturday, Italian outlets – Tuttosport via Football Italia claim medical personnel in Nigeria did more damage to Osimhen’s injury by trying to fix the dislocated shoulder immediately on the field.

After coming across the story on social media, Osimhen gave a very short and direct response. “Not true tho,” the former Lille forward wrote.

The Nigerian forward has struggled for form this season, he has managed to score just two goals in eight appearances for Napoli so far in this campaign.

The injury has forced him to miss Napoli’s last four matches as he continues to watch his teammates from the sidelines.
