The 46-year old business man from Anambra state in eastern Nigeria recently buried his mother in a lavish ceremony that has left many wondering how he makes his money.
About 200 cows were slaughtered during the burial ceremony, trucks of alcohol donated by friends, and the billionaire wore a $100k diamond necklace to immortalize his mother during the event.
How Obi Cubana made his first millions
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the Political Science graduate said after school, he served in Abuja for his National Youth Service (NYSC) in 1999 where he was posted to the National Assembly.
Around the same time Obi Cubana entered into the Estate Agent business, were he sells lands and other real estate properties.
His big break came as he said, when he met a client that gave him a house furnishing contract.
“We did [the job] well, and he gifted me N500k… and from the job my profit was like N600 and something [thousand], making N1.1m just like that,” he told the BBC.
