Sunday Igboho takes Yoruba Nation agenda to Osogbo

Fugitive Yoruba activist, Mr Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, had taken his “Yoruba nation” agitation to Osogbo the Osun state capital.

Igboho and his supporters defiled the security presence and took the rally to major streets in Osogbo to enlist the support of the people of the state.

However, Heavy rain and thunderstorm eventually brought the rally to a premature end on Saturday afternoon.

Igboho was addressing rally goers when the scorching sunny weather turned cloudy at 2:25 pm.

He hurriedly addressed his supporters standing on top of a vehicle but when other leaders wanted to address the agitators, heavy rain started and it dispersed supporters from the venue.

While addressing his supporters, Igboho said the security agents could not prevent him from exercising his right to express his mind as a citizen of the country.

Igboho insisted that nothing would stop the actualisation of the Yoruba nation and called on the people of Osun State to key into the agenda.

He also appealed to all stakeholders and traditional rulers in Yorubaland to openly declare support for the agitation for the Yoruba nation.

Why is Sunday Igboho leading the agitation for Yoruba Nation?

Sunday Igboho was a little known political thug until sometimes last year when he shot to the limelight. He became a prominent figure who promised to defend Yoruba people against killer Fulani herdsmen who have been encroaching into Yoruba land in recent times.

Citing the federal government’s inability to protect Nigerians, Igboho’s mission has changed from defending the Yoruba people to agitating for an independent Oduduwa Republic that would secede from Nigeria.

He is not the only one seeking secession. In the South-east, Nnamdi Kanu and his paramilitary organization; Eastern Security Network have become more violent in recent days attacking police stations and Nigerian military installations.

They want an independent state of Biafra for the people of old Eastern region of Nigeria.
